His solid play convinced the Heat to sign Yurtseven to a two-year, $3.5 million contract after the California Classic, but the big man sat out Miami’s first Las Vegas match with a blister, and his status for tonight’s game is in doubt. Yurtseven, a 23-year-old seven-footer from Turkey, impressed at the California Classic with averages of 26 points, 13.5 boards and two blocks in two games. One player who already made the most of this opportunity is former undrafted big man Omer Yurtseven, who played for the G-League’s Oklahoma City Blue last season. According to RealGM’s roster projection, Miami still has a few open roster slots, so the Summer League could be a chance for players to earn time with the regular season squad. After averaging 4.8 points per game with the Heat last season, Vincent is expected to be the team’s backup point guard behind offseason acquisition Kyle Lowry. One of those players, Gabe Vincent, hasn’t appeared in a game after competing for Nigeria in the Tokyo Olympics but could make his Las Vegas debut tonight. Miami is 1-0 in Las Vegas and went 2-0 in the California Classic despite only three players on the roster with NBA experience. Tillman shares the frontcourt with stretch big Killian Tillie, a second-year player from France who hit six of his 10 attempts from beyond the arc against the Nets and scored 20 points. The former Michigan State center stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals against Brooklyn, and he gives Memphis an interior presence to match up with any bigs Miami can put on the floor. Xavier Tillman also played for the Grizzlies in the NBA last season and is a huge part of the team’s 1-0 record in Las Vegas this summer. The wing from TCU scored 32 points on six made threes in the team’s first summer league game, a 91-84 win over the Brooklyn Nets. Bane ranked in the top-15 of three-point percentage last season with a true shooting percentage of 60.0% and made the All-Rookie Second Team. It all starts with sharpshooter Desmond Bane, who is quickly developing into one of the league’s premier three-point shooters. The Grizzlies’ Summer League team is among the most stacked rosters in Las Vegas, with six players who saw playing time in the NBA last season. I’m eyeing a few games for today’s Summer League slate for my best bets. While Summer League rarely translates directly to NBA play, the Las Vegas circuit boasts plenty of intrigue in the form of talented, young players and older veterans trying to secure a roster spot. The NBA Summer League continues with a seven-game slate for Wednesday, beginning with a matchup between the Bucks and Nets at 4:00 pm ET. Plus, now you can check out articles and player cards. It’s pretty damn cool. The App is Back! Don’t forget to download the NBC Sports EDGE app to receive real-time player news, mobile alerts and track your favorite players. A lot of young and competitive college studs as well as Europeans leave it all on the court to make an NBA roster so for Clarke to stand out from all the rest. With that being said, it’s still cool for a former Zag in Brandon Clarke to be named the best player in the prestigious Las Vegas Tournament. Yes, the award is quite the accomplishment to put on your trophy case but none of the players listed above have really made it to stardom just yet (Keegan Murray looks to have the best chance).
